ANNA DOMENICI

HER BACKGROUND

The path of Anna Domenici is in her origins: the Tuscany of her Ancestors - poets and minstrels of nature, illustrators of legends, and innate philosophers fit to sculpture beautiful landscapes. After more than thirty years in Milan as Art Director for world famous design houses Krizia and Mila Schon, Anna returns home still enchanted by the beauty of the land surrounding Siena to develop her passion for the Palio and love for the Tuscan hills.

THE PALIO COLLECTION™

The Palio Collection™ of t-shirts and handbags are handmade in Italy by Anna Domenici. The Palio t-shirts, offering a wonderful feel, fit and look in a variety of designs and styles, are made from 93% Italian cotton and 7% lycra, and are each hand silk screened with multiple bold rich colors on all sides for a unique longlasting appeal. Each of the 17 Contrada designs is available in four women’s sizes and several styles: short-sleeve round neck, short-sleeve v-neck and sleeveless mock turtle neck. Three-quarter length and capped sleeves will be available in Spring 2005.

Unique coordinating designer handbags, also part of the Collection, are hand silk-screened on Italian linen, fully lined with inside zippers and trimmed with a choice of fine Italian leather or other fabrics.

HER INSPIRATION

The Palio Collection™ represents the merging of the centuries old tradition of the Masters of Sienese art and Anna Domenici’s contemporary artistic interpretation of the Legends of the Palio and their heraldic symbols. The Palio is a historic horse race which takes place annually in a fury of passion in the Piazza del Campo of Siena, Italy, July 2nd and August 16th. The founding “Contrada” families of Siena compete in this traditional event and their family crests are spectacularly displayed in the form of flags waving over thousands of international spectators. Anna Domenici has brilliantly designed and reinterpreted the Palio symbols for a fashionable look while respecting and preserving the tradition of which the Sienese people are extremely jealous guardians.
